SSSG detains one individual on charges of counterfeit official document use
Officers from the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) detained one individual in Tbilisi for large-scale fraud and the use of a counterfeit official document.
The investigation determined that the detained individual attempted to fraudulently sell the real estate owned by another individual, namely, a land plot exceeding 18,000 square meters in the Tskneti settlement, valued at several million USD.
On July 24, the detained individual attempted to sell the said property at the National Agency of Public Registry of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, using a forged document produced in a foreign country at a relatively lower price of USD 1, 200,000.
The investigation is in progress under Article 180, Part 3, Subparagraph “b” and Article 362, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provide for a punishment measure of imprisonment for a term of 6 to 9 years.
