Special traffic rules imposed on certain road sections due to heavy snowfall and difficult weather conditions
According to the Roads Department, special traffic regimes have been imposed on certain sections of roads due to heavy snowfall and difficult meteorological conditions.
Due to heavy snowfall and low temperatures, the movement of articulated lorries and semi-trailers is restricted on the following road sections: the km93-km107 (Gudauri (Post)-Kobi) section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi highway, the km1-km106 section of the Gomi-Sachkhere-Chiatura-Zestaponi road of intrastate importance, the Sachkhere (Sareki)-Uzunta-Shkmeri-Zudali road, the km110-km146 section of the Koda-Partskhisi-Manglisi-Tsalka-Ninotsminda highway, and the km30-km70 (Jvari-Khaishi) section of the Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili road.
Due to avalanche risk, heavy snow, poor visibility, blizzard conditions and difficult meteorological conditions, traffic for all types of vehicles is temporarily restricted on: the km103-km118 (Goderdzi Resort-Utysubani) section of the Batumi (Angisa)-Akhaltsikhe road of intrastate importance, the km39-km72 (Nakerala Pass) section of the Kutaisi (Motsameta)-Tkibuli-Ambrolauri road, the km94-km110 (Paravani Pass) section of the Koda-Partskhisi-Manglisi-Tsalka-Ninotsminda highway, the km53-km106 (Korsha-Shatili) section of the Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili road, the Nichbisi-Didgori-Didi Toneti road, and the km185-km190 (Ushguli-Lasdili) section of the Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili road.
“On the km0-km22 (Orbeli Pass) section of the Alpana-Tsageri road, the km89-km125 (Lentekhi-Mele) section of the Kutaisi (Tskaltubo turn-off)-Tskaltubo-Tsageri-Lentekhi-Lasdili road, the km42-km125 (Opitara-Mele) section of the Kutaisi (Tskaltubo turn-off)-Tskaltubo-Tsageri-Lentekhi-Lasdili road, and the km50-km103 section of the Batumi (Angisa)-Akhaltsikhe road, only high-clearance vehicles (with two or more driven axles) are permitted, whilst traffic for all other types of vehicles is restricted.
On the km71-km184 (Khaishi-Ushguli) section of the Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili road, light vehicle traffic is permitted with the use of anti-skid chains,” the Roads Department’s statement reads.
