Special Investigation Service arrests foreign citizen on sexual extortion
The Special Investigation Service arrested a citizen of the Republic of Turkey has been arrested for sexual extortion.
The investigation established that a 24-year-old Georgian girl living in Tbilisi got acquainted with the 45-year-old Turkish man through a social network. They met each other in Batumi and formed a loving, intimate relationship.
During sexual intercourse with the victim, the accused citizen of Turkey covertly took videos of the victim with his mobile phone and secretly transcribed intimate photo-video material depicting the secrets of her personal life from the victim’s phone.
After the female victim decided to end her relationship with the Turkish citizen, the accused started blackmailing her with secretly obtained footage and demanded that the girl restore her relationship with him.
After receiving a refusal from the victim, to take revenge, using various social networks, he spread a secretly filmed video of sexual intercourse with the victim to the family members and acquaintances of the woman. In addition to this, the Turkish citizen created fake pages on “Instagram” and “Facebook” on behalf of the victim and her family members, where during the years 2022, 2023, and 2024, he systematically posted publicly intimate photo-video material of the victim woman.
Also, he wrote to unknown persons on behalf of the victim and provided her contact information, sent intimate files, as a result of which she was contacted by unknown men.
After receiving the victim’s report, the Special Investigation Service carried out appropriate investigative activities with full protection of confidentiality. A search was conducted in the hotel room of a Turkish citizen exposed in the crime, during which photo-video material of the intimate content of the victim woman was seized, and in his mobile phone were also found the addresses of the social network used to spread the secrets of the victim’s private life, after which the accused was arrested for committing the crime under Article 1571 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
The crime shall be punished by imprisonment for up to 8 years. The Special Investigation Service continues further investigation into the case.
