Speaker vows to return EU flag to its place with due honour

The European Union flag will be returned to its place with due honour, said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.

According to the Speaker, all individuals who stepped the EU flag would be identified and punished by administrative rule.

“I want to respond to the desecration of the EU flag in front of the Parliament building. You know that the current Parliament made the desecration of the flags of the European Union, as well as other countries, erected in front of administrative buildings punishable, and of course, there was a statement by the Ministry of Internal Affairs that everyone who desecrated the flag of the European Union will be properly identified and punished in an administrative manner.

According to the Speaker, radicalism generates radicalism and is unacceptable.

“Such behavior, of course, is unacceptable, no matter who it comes from. The flag will be returned to its place with due respect,” he stated.

The violent mob of pro-Russian Alt-Info TV Company tore down, stepped and burnt the EU flag flying at the parliament building. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) probes into the fact.
