Speaker: Senior Swedish official’s call for 'Maidan' and radicalisation remains uncondemned, inciting violence
“Last year, a senior official within the Swedish government called for “Maidan” and radicalisation. Yet, the Swedish government has still not distanced itself from these remarks,” Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, stated on social media.
As Papuashvili emphasises, failing to condemn violence encourages future acts of violence.
“Let us remember how, last year, a senior Swedish government official and Chair of the European Affairs Committee, Erik Ottosson, called for ‘Maidan’ and radicalisation.
The Swedish government has yet to distance itself from this statement, nor has it condemned the attempt to set fire to the parliament last year, nor the failed violent overthrow attempt on October 4. Failing to condemn violence is tantamount to incitement,” Papuashvili asserts.
