Speaker says he regrets that For Georgia faction couldn’t go beyond Giorgi Gakharia’s name and surname: I don’t know what they owe to him to make them so disgraced
“Members of the Gakharia for Georgia faction think that society is only interested in Giorgi Gakharia and his fate. I guess they realize how distant they are from public issues,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, remarking on the skirmish in the parliament.
According to the Speaker, Georgian society sees everything, assesses and makes judgments through elections or general reactions.
“It is regrettable that the For Georgia faction could not go beyond one surname. They were not interested in any issue; all questions and issues were directed at one name and surname, Giorgi Gakharia. In the end, Giorgi Sharashidze even came out with his portrait, a piece of paper that he waved – a photo of Giorgi Gakharia. This happens instead of the opportunity to be a member of parliament, participate in reviewing the PM’s annual report, speak to your voters. They think that society is only interested in Giorgi Gakharia and his fate. This is when they have received an instruction. We have seen a disgraceful behaviour on the part of the faction member,” he said.
A skirmish took place between the majority and opposition MPs as soon as Giorgi Sharashidze, MP from the Gakharia for Georgia party, completed his speech.
