All those caught up in this natural disaster did not panic and survived; all 210 citizens demonstrated civil courage, Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili told the media in Racha.

“I would like to highlight this tragedy because there is a desire in certain groups to minimize the citizens’ dedication, self-sacrifice, and mutual support. 210 people survived this calamity, demonstrating civil courage and self-sacrifice. The Sunset Shovi workers escorted the visitors from floor to floor and guided them down the stairs.

Two pupils from Rustavi were not in the immediate area but were blocked off and stayed overnight, and even these children showed civil courage by not panicking. All the individuals affected by this natural disaster did not panic and were safely moved by the rescuers; all of these people, all 210 citizens, unquestionably demonstrated civil courage. Among them was one foreigner who had only arrived recently and had been assisting others and cooking food,” Shalva Papuashvili added.
