Speaker: Kaja Kallas, Marta Kos, not apologizing for their Spokesperson-supported coup assembly anticipated by Georgian society
“Kaja Kallas and Marta Kos are not apologizing for their Spokesperson-supported coup assembly, which is so much anticipated by Georgian society,” wrote Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Facebook, echoing the joint statement of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for Enlargement.
Papuashvili called on EU representatives to refrain from spreading false narratives that deviate from the facts.
“If I understand it correctly, Madam Kallas and Madam Kos are not apologizing for their Spokesperson-supported coup assembly, which left 25 police officers injured during the attack on the Presidential Palace. However, this is what the Georgian society expects from the European Union.
Regarding their assessments of Georgian elections, I once again call on all EU representatives to refrain from spreading false narratives that deviate from the facts that reinforce the desire of the radical forces to undermine democracy, supremacy of law, and respect for human rights,” Papuashvili wrote.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas and European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, released a joint statement on the October 4 municipal elections in Georgia.
According to the statement, the elections were held “amid a period of extensive crackdown on dissent.” Kaja Kallas and Marta Kos also urged for a “constructive and inclusive dialogue involving all political actors and civil society” and “called on every side to refrain from violence.”
