Speaker confident Georgian businesses will act responsibly, resisting the pursuit of excessive profit
“The stance taken by entrepreneurs and businesses is welcome,” stated Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament.
According to him, when the environment for doing business is favourable, enterprises thrive, generating good income.
“We have learned from our meetings that we need to understand the challenges we face constructively, recognising that social responsibility also rests with business. When the conditions for doing business are favourable, thanks to low taxes and efficient services, Georgia leads in this regard, enabling businesses to thrive and attain healthy profits. This, in turn, entails responsibility.
I am confident that Georgian businesses will act with social responsibility and will not succumb to the temptation of pursuing excessive profit, as that reflects a lack of social responsibility. Hopefully, this will not be the case. We want the public to understand how the price formation system works, who is involved in the chain, and together, we can assess what can and should be done,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
