Some opposition MPs are likely to join EC's nine steps fulfilment process

Some opposition MPs declared they would join the fulfilment of the European Commission’s newly defined nine steps for Georgia on the EU integration path.

“I will join the process to highlight that the candidate’s status has no political belonging. It is the status of the country and the demand of the Georgian citizens,” MP Khatuna Samnidze told the GPB’s First Channel.

According to Khatuna Samnidze, the government should be motivated to cooperate with the opposition since it is a part of those nine steps, adding it was yet “hard for the government to find such resources.”

Opposition MP Teona Akubardia said she would wait for the government’s action plan to be published.

“I very much doubt that the Georgian Dream demonstrates political will in the fight against the disinformation, as well as bringing foreign and security policies in compliance with the EU requirements. Also, the GD should not keep silent when Georgian citizens are killed, and resolutions are adopted in the European Parliament. The GD failed to ensure parliamentary supervision of the State Security Service. I plan to work on these three directions,” she said.

The European Integration Commission meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on November 27, approved an action plan for the EC’s recommendations fulfilment. Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili said the government would continue work with European partners according to this plan.
