So-called court in occupied Tskhinvali sentences Georgian citizen to two months' imprisonment
The so-called court in occupied Tskhinvali has sentenced Georgian citizen Tamar Mearakishvili to two months in prison, according to her lawyer, Alan Bazaev.
Bazaev confirmed that they intend to appeal the decision of the so-called court.
Media reports indicate that Mearakishvili denies the charges against her and is currently on a hunger strike, which she began yesterday following her arrest.
The so-called trial was held behind closed doors, with Mearakishvili’s family members denied access to the proceedings.
For context, Tamar Mearakishvili was arrested in occupied Tskhinvali on what are described as “spying charges.”
