Shalva Papuashvili meets Ilham Aliyev

Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of Georgia’s Parliament, met with Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan.

According to the press office of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili stressed the legacy of Azerbaijan’s national leader, President Heydar Aliyev, in building a powerful state and the implementation of vital projects in the South Caucasus.

The speaker of the parliament commended Ilham Aliyev for his strong support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and for his personal commitment to the building of Georgia’s strategic alliance with Azerbaijan.

“The parties regarded the developments of relations between the two nations favourably. The emphasis was on beneficial partnerships in energy, transportation, trade, and other areas. The parties have highlighted the rising importance of the middle corridor for the two nations and Europe’s energy security. The meeting also discussed recent developments in the region. The parties indicated their commitment to maintaining cooperation in the pursuit of promoting regional peace, prosperity, and stability,” the parliament’s press service reported.
