Service Development Agency to issue new design for ID and travel documents
The State Services Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice has begun issuing new-generation, redesigned biometric passports for Georgian citizens, along with electronic residence certificates.
According to the Agency, these updated documents will be available to applicants starting from October 6 this year.
“It is important to note that the fees remain unchanged, and holders of current documents are not required to replace them. The following identification and travel documents will also feature an updated design: temporary electronic residence certificates, permanent electronic residence certificates, diplomatic passports, service passports, travel documents for individuals with refugee status, and travel passports for stateless persons with legal status in Georgia.
Enhanced security features, incorporating modern protective measures, ensure the new documents fully comply with international standards. Their design incorporates national symbols, reflecting Georgia’s heritage,” the Agency reported.
Applicants can obtain these documents at territorial offices of the State Services Development Agency, branches of the House of Justice, mobile justice units, or remotely via the Agency’s website: sda.gov.ge.
According to the Agency, the issuance of electronic identity cards is scheduled to commence on November 3, 2025.
