Self-government belongs to people, European Democrats sum up party's philosophy

“This is a really interesting race, as all parties will be able to participate independently for the first time in the history of the country,” stated Mamuka Gamkrelidze, a representative of the European Democrats, in GPB First Channel pre-election debates.

“There are no blocs, and therefore, every party presents its visions and capabilities. That is very important for the next parliamentary elections. We can consider it as a kind of springboard,” Gamkrelidze said.

He said it is crucial to realize that this is a local self-government election, and therefore, the party should focus on it.

“I want to say that the whole election philosophy of our party fits in three words – self-government belongs to the people. People need to understand that they are in power. The government is a face of a pyramid that starts from the bottom. We should never forget that,” Mamuka Gamkrelidze said.

GPB First Channel hosts debates of representatives of qualified electoral candidates today. Ten parties are partaking: Third Force, European Georgia – Movement for Liberty, United National Movement, European Democrats, Aleko Elisashvili – Citizens, David Tarkhan-Mouravi, Irma Inashvili – Alliance of Patriots of Georgia, Lelo, Shalva Natelashvili – Georgian Labor Party, Girchi, Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia.

All registered Tbilisi mayoral candidates will debate on GPB First Channel on September 21, 2021.
