Sarpi customs officers foil large-scale narcotics import

Sarpi customs officers from the Revenue Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry have successfully prevented the smuggling of a significant quantity of narcotics into the country.

A foreign national had attempted to smuggle 147 packages of drugs, weighing a total of 665 grams, hidden in a truck. The packages were concealed in polyethene bags filled with pressed tea. Fortunately, the customs officers discovered this large-scale smuggling operation and took swift action to prevent the narcotics from entering the territory of Georgia.

The case materials have been handed over to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for further investigation and appropriate action.
