Saqpatent Chair meets EPO President
Chairman of Saqpatent (Intellectual Property Center), Soso Giorgadze met the President of the European Patent Organization (EPO), Antonio Campinos in Munich.
This was the first official meeting between heads of Patent offices following enacting the January 15 validation agreement.
It was noted at the meeting that the validation agreement is mutually beneficial. Georgia will be the 45th country of the organization with its rapidly growing economy and efficient system of intellectual property protection.
For Georgia, which has recently received the EU candidate country status, enforcement of the validation agreement is a significant step forward on its European integration path.
Based on the validation agreement between the European Patent Organisation and Georgia, inventors and businesses are now able to validate their European patent applications and patents granted by the European Patent Office (EPO) in Georgia as per the country’s national law.
