Georgia’s President Salome Zourabichvili held a meeting of the parents of children diagnosed with achondroplasia. Salome Zourabichvili, as the parents stated after they met with the president, would assist them as much as possible.

According to their explanation, the president will be active in improving medication safety awareness and re-training doctors. Salome Zourabichvili, according to the parents, would also assist them in expediting the procedure of importing drugs.

“The president voiced her support. It’s amazing that she was completely aware of the syndrome and consulted with physicians. She also heard of our experience, what we went through over the last year and a half, and our concern, that we are in a rush. The president expressed her delight that funds for this are included in the budget and that she is willing to assist us in any way she can,” Makuna Gochiashvili, one of the parents, stated.

Parents of children with achondroplasia held rallies over the last days, demanding that appropriate medicines [Vosoritide] be imported into the country and funded.
