Russian Interests Section at Swiss Embassy urges Russian citizens to consider risks before visiting Georgia
The Russian Federation Interests Section at the Swiss Embassy has issued a warning to Russian citizens, urging them to exercise caution and carefully assess the risks involved before travelling to Georgia.
They report an increase in cases where Russian nationals are denied entry to Georgia if their passports indicate a birthplace of “Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Abkhaz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, South Ossetia, Crimea, Donetsk People’s Republic, Luhansk People’s Republic, Zaporozhye or Kherson regions.”
“In the current circumstances, where actions by Georgian border authorities introduce a degree of uncertainty into the plans of Russian travellers, we strongly advise our citizens to thoroughly consider all factors and potential risks before deciding to visit,” the statement reads.
