Roads Department launches intensive road cleaning amid challenging weather conditions
Due to challenging meteorological conditions, intensive cleaning operations are underway on roads across Georgia, the Department of Roads of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported.
Snow-clearing equipment is mobilized in all directions, and technical salt is being continuously applied to facilitate the restoration of traffic as quickly as possible.
As a result of these ongoing intensive cleaning operations, traffic has been successfully reinstated on the internationally significant Khashuri-Akhaltsikhe-Vale highway. Additionally, all forms of motor vehicle traffic have been restored on the section of the Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi highway, specifically from km 37 to km 49 (Tetritsklebi-Verona).
However, special traffic regulations are still in place on certain highways due to specific conditions. The Gudauri (post)-Kobi section of the internationally important Mtskheta-Stefantsminda-Larsi highway is currently closed for all types of motor vehicle traffic due to a high risk of avalanches. Similarly, the section from km 90 to km 112 of the internationally significant Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda highway is prohibited for all motor vehicle traffic due to blizzards and heavy snowfall. The remaining sections of this highway remain open for vehicle traffic.
