The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure has rehabilitated a 21-kilometer road connecting Ozurgeti to the Gomismta resort, reducing travel time between the locations to just 45 minutes.
The upgraded road meets modern standards of comfort and safety, adhering to all necessary internal state road requirements.
Minister Irakli Karseladze inspected the completed works and confirmed that several previously problematic landslide sections had been stabilized, with ongoing monitoring of one remaining area.
“The renovated road is now in full compliance with established standards,” stated Minister Karseladze.
Before rehabilitation, the route was narrow, damaged, and unpaved. The project involved renewing the road surface and constructing necessary infrastructure, such as connections to local roads, bus stops, road signs, barriers, and markings to enhance safety. The project was funded by the state budget of GEL 18.8 million.
In addition to this initiative, the ministry recently rehabilitated the access road to Bakhmaro in the Guria region. Overall, over 71 kilometres of internal national highways have been upgraded in Guria through various infrastructure projects.
