The Revenue Service of the Finance Ministry is warning the public about potential fraudulent messages that may be sent to their cell phones.
According to the Service, these messages falsely claim that the recipient has an excess tax charge and offer a refund through a specified link.
“The Revenue Service confirms that these SMS messages are fake and are not associated with our activities. The perpetrators of this scam are attempting to steal people’s money. We urge recipients to exercise caution and to refrain from sharing any personal information with these scammers.
Furthermore, any official communication from the tax authority regarding tax liabilities or other matters is sent to businesses according to established procedures, solely through Georgian Post or their authorized page,” the Service stated.
