Residents living adjacent to occupied territories to get winter financial aid, funding for students in 2025-2026

The interim government commission, established in response to the needs of conflict-affected residents living along the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL), convened for its 29th session, chaired by Regional Development Minister Kakha Guledani and co-chaired by State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani.

According to the Office of the State Minister, the commission has decided to continue providing financial assistance to residents at the ABL throughout the winter to ensure access to heating, as well as maintain funding for students through the 2025-2026 academic year.

Tea Akhvlediani emphasised that caring for conflict-affected communities remains a top priority within the reconciliation policy. She also underscored that the socio-economic development of these villages constitutes a “powerful political message to the population living in the occupied regions,” serving as a clear demonstration of the Georgian government’s people-centred approach.

During the session, participants also reviewed the interim government commission’s report for 2024.
