Rescuers discovered one more body in the disaster-stricken area in Georgia’s Guria region, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. The search for one missing person is ongoing in the affected region.
“The Emergency Management Service rescuers continue efforts in Guria. Another body was discovered during the search operation, and the search for one missing person is ongoing.
At this stage, 11 individuals, including children and minors, have been rescued and relocated to a safe place. The bodies of two deceased individuals have been found, and the search for one teenager is ongoing.
Various units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are actively engaged in addressing the disaster, with the necessary equipment mobilized for the task.
We urge the local population to avoid unnecessary travel and follow the instructions of Ministry of Internal Affairs representatives on-site,” the Ministry stated.
The torrential rain led to overflowing riverbeds, landslides, and extensive damage to residential buildings, bridges, and roads connecting villages in the Guria region.
