Rally in support of Mzia Amaglobeli outside Special Investigation Service
A protest rally in support of journalist Mzia Amaglobeli, founder of the Batumelebi and Netgazeti media outlets, is currently taking place outside the Special Investigation Service.
Supporters and colleagues are demanding Mzia Amaglobeli’s immediate release and the designation of her status as a victim in the investigation led by the Special Investigation Service. They also call for the suspension of duties for Batumi Police Chief Irakli Dgebuadze.
The protesters have partially blocked the road and are urging authorities to provide the public with details regarding Amaglobeli’s health condition.
Mzia Amaglobeli has been on a hunger strike for 17 days at Rustavi Prison. The founder and director of Batumelebi and Netgazeti was arrested under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to assault on a police officer.
