Public Defender to investigate exclusion of certain media outlets from opposition meeting with Lithuania’s former FM
Georgian Public Defender Levan Ioseliani announced that he will investigate the exclusion of certain media outlets from the March 18 meeting between opposition parties and Lithuania’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis.
The Public Defender urged all relevant stakeholders to ensure equal access for media representatives at public interest meetings, including government and municipal briefings, to uphold society’s right to “receive multifaceted information.”
Levan Ioseliani emphasized the essential role of the media in disseminating information, which is crucial for fostering self-awareness and establishing a democratic state.
Several media outlets, including the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB), were not permitted to attend the March 18 meeting between the opposition parties and Lithuania’s former FM Gabrielius Landsbergis.
