The Georgian General Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an investigation into the case of Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader of the Lelo party, under Article 349 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation was prompted by a request from the fact-finding commission examining the government from 2003 to 2012. The investigation centres around Khazaradze’s failure to comply with the commission’s requirements, which could result in criminal penalties, including a fine, imprisonment of up to one year, or a three-year suspension from official duties.
The fact-finding commission submitted the case of Mamuka Khazaradze to the Prosecutor’s Office on March 25.
In a post on Facebook, Khazaradze criticized the “illegitimate parliament” and declined to attend the commission meeting on that date, describing it as a “circus show.”
