Prosecutor’s Office opens inquiry into death of State Security Service employee

The Investigation Department of the Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an inquiry into the death of a State Security Service (SSSG) employee, according to an official statement from the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia.

“The Investigation Department of the Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the death of an employee of the Anti-Corruption Agency within the State Security Service of Georgia, under Article 115 of the Criminal Code.

This morning, the employee was found dead in his vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. During the scene investigation, a firearm belonging to the deceased and a letter found on the passenger seat were recovered.

Relevant urgent investigative measures are currently underway,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated.
