Prosecutor General: If there is a need for questioning the President, we will act in accordance with law
If there is a need for questioning the President, we will act in accordance with the law, – Prosecutor General Shalva Tadumadze told reporters when answering a question whether President Salome Zurabishvili would be summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office.
“Investigation is ongoing. If necessary, the Prosecutor’s Office will act in accordance with the law,” Tadumadze said. He added that “currently the investigation is questioning other persons”.
The General Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the pardoning of convicts by President Salome Zurabishvili on September 20 on charge of the alleged abuse of power in the pardoning procedure.
President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili pardoned 34 prisoners in connection with Virgin Mary Day on August 28 including three convicts charged for the murder and one person wanted by law enforcers.
