Procedural Committee approves quota distribution for parliamentary commission investigating 2003-2012 regime

The Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules has reviewed and approved the quota allocation and proportional representation for members of the temporary investigative commission studying “The Activities of the 2003-2012 Regime and Its Political Officials.”

Rapporteur Davit Matikashvili informed that parliamentary regulations mandate this process.

“As you know, the Parliament of Georgia has established a temporary investigative commission to study ‘The Activities of the 2003-2012 Regime and Its Political Officials.’ We need to distribute the numbers and proportions and determine the quotas as required by parliamentary regulations.

The proposal suggests the following parity: the Georgian Dream faction will be represented by five members, meaning the majority will have five members. As for the opposition portion – two members will be from the People’s Power, one from the European Socialists, and two seats will be reserved for non-faction MPs, meaning the opposition flank that hasn’t yet entered parliament.

Their intentions aren’t clear yet regarding what they plan for the future. So if they do enter parliament, they will have the full opportunity to fill this quota with two members in this commission,” stated Matikashvili.
