In a press conference held at the Orbeliani Palace with opposition representatives, Georgian President Salome Zourabishvili emphasized the need for “coordinated and rational decisions.” She declared, “This is a resistance movement, and I will remain president until the end. I am the only legitimate institution.”

Zurabishvili asserted that she is the sole representative authorized to speak on behalf of Georgian society internationally. She explained that she invited political parties and various movements to the briefing, acknowledging that many non-governmental organizations are currently engaged in street protests and people are spontaneously demonstrating.

“I have addressed political parties,” stating that this is not the time for individual agendas or personal visions. “All of that is now irrelevant. Facing this challenge, we are either united or we are not. I want to be clear: no one is asking political parties to suddenly merge into one party. May God protect us from a one-party system. We do not want that, and we will finally rid ourselves of such a political construct.”

Today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced a decision not to place the issue of opening accession negotiations with the EU on the agenda until the end of 2028. “We will also reject any budgetary grants from the EU until that time. By the end of 2028, Georgia will be economically ready to initiate negotiations for EU membership in 2030.”
