The President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili signed the legislative package on amendments to the law on Common Courts of Georgia.
According to the President’s Administration, as a result of the consultations held between the President and the Speaker of the Parliament, the major recommendations, provided by the Venice Commission, were taken into consideration during the second reading.
“The amendments will facilitate a more open, transparent selection of the Supreme Court judges, and the President expresses her hope that it will positively affect the confidence in the judiciary” – the statement released by the President’s Administration reads.
The Parliament of Georgia approved the legislative package on amendments to the law on Common Courts of Georgia through the third reading yesterday.
