“I would like to congratulate the whole of Georgia on this day. The concept of a family, love for family is equated with love for the motherland and we all feel it,” Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili told reporters in connection with Family Purity Day.

According to Kavelashvili, unity and victory begin from a family.

“Our values, and respect, we are grounded on, begin from a family. I would like to express my gratefulness to the Patriarch for assigning special significance to this day. We see joy in the nation. The concept of a family, love for family is equated with love for motherland and we all feel it. I would like to congratulate the entire Georgia on this day. When such a unity, we will definitely win, and our unity and victories begin from the family,” said Kavelashvili.

Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II declared May 17 as the Day of Family Purity and Respect for Parents in 2014.

Since 2024, the Government of Georgia has declared May 17 a public holiday to honour the Day of Family Purity and Respect for Parents.
