President Kavelashvili warns that calls for coup and parallel government will no longer go unpunished

“If you yourself call for a coup, promote extremism, create groups or an alternative government, the state will no longer remain silent and will take action against you,” stated Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili during the programme “Actual Topics with Maka Tsintsadze” on GPB First Channel.

According to Kavelashvili, the state will, within the bounds of the law, take action to restrict anyone attempting to undermine existing achievements.

“No matter what actions they take, we remain a lawful, democratic, free, and sovereign state. We will do everything within the framework of the law to curb those individuals whose misguided thoughts aim to undermine the achievements we have made thus far. When I emphasised the importance of timing, I asked why the debates didn’t commence two or three years ago? Isn’t that a simple question? These forces oppose all of this and refuse to give us a chance. They rushed to the parliament over a law I initiated; as a member of parliament, it is my duty to propose legislation. Yet, they denied me that right. Can you imagine what they were doing outside the parliament and how they behaved? These people should gradually exit the political space. We have begun this process, and we are staying consistent.

Remember what we were discussing, why our views align with those of, for example, Trump, Rubio, and JD Vance. When I expressed these opinions, I was labelled anti-American and accused of representing the Russian government. Yet, when JD Vance, Rubio, and Trump say the same thing, they don’t even dare to criticise it, and here they have the chance to do so.

Society should know, once and for all, whom these people actually serve. What are they doing today regarding sanctions? How is that even possible? Firstly, a person who was the President of Georgia openly states, “I am a citizen of Ukraine.” Then, watch how he acts to hinder relations. When we ask who might interfere, these are the very entities involved. Imagine, these individuals see themselves as patriots.

I respect every flag. I was a sportsman, and for us athletes, the anthem and the flag carry a particular, almost sacred significance. But how can you equate your own flag with that of another country? If things go their way, they’ll be holding up the Russian flag too,” said Mikheil Kavelashvili.
