President Kavelashvili: Majority of citizens believe Georgia is sovereign nation, despite external forces view it as project

“It is absurd to suggest that the coup plotters discovered the fence of the presidential palace to be fragile and that this was planned in advance,” stated Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili during the GPB First Channel programme Actual Topic with Maka Tsintsadze.

According to the President, several days have passed since October 4, and it became clear to everyone that “such an assessment is neither logical nor rational.”

When asked how he could address the ongoing challenges when a portion of the citizens categorically refuse to accept the current reality and only view it through a biased lens, President Kavelashvili responded:

“There exists a group of people who are disconnected from reality. They hold their own viewpoints, which do not align with the factual situation. Georgia has a government committed to an independent, nation-centered policy, placing the country’s interests above all else. We communicate with everyone respectfully and equally, urging all to recognise the will of the Georgian people, respect Georgia’s government, and uphold the country’s sovereignty.

I am confident that the majority of citizens agree that Georgia is an independent and sovereign nation, striving to grow stronger. Sadly, there are forces we might refer to by different names, ‘Deep State’, ‘Global War Party’. These forces see Georgia merely as a project, a ‘Georgia’ that must follow a predetermined course with specific commitments. They believe Georgia’s role should be different. There are individuals acting as instruments of this project, receiving instructions and executing directives accordingly.

While these individuals may not struggle to perceive and evaluate reality, they are compelled to act in this manner because they are guided by the architects of this project. If we examine the events surrounding these developments, it’s not difficult to call things by their proper names.

Today, there are two realities: one in which, fortunately, the Georgian government and the majority of its citizens stand united in defending the state, its national interests, and its sovereignty. They seek constructive cooperation with allies and well-wishing nations. The other reality belongs to a long-standing project, operating through certain political parties and non-governmental organisations within our country,” Mikheil Kavelashvili stated.
