President - Head of UN praises Georgia's moves for COVID-19 response

“The efforts made into different directions allow us to maintain low rates of coronavirus in the country compared to others,” Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said at today’s Parliament sitting.

The President noted that Antonio Guterres, the current Secretary-General of the United Nations praised Georgia’s moves for coronavirus response. Zurabishvili said that the Head of UN accentuated Georgia’s preliminary steps against the novel virus.

“We should be proud of that. However, we should not be complacent despite such assessments as we are entering the peak phase of the virus.

To control internal transmission and manage to treat all serious patients in the country is the most important for the time being,” Salome Zurabishvili stressed.

The number of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in Georgia has reached 411.

According to the latest figures, 98 patients recovered from the virus and five died.
