President files lawsuit against Foreign Influence Transparency Law

Giorgi Mskhiladze, parliamentary secretary to President Salome Zourabichvili, briefed the media at the presidential administration, saying the President has submitted a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court inquiring about the constitutionality of the Foreign Influence Transparency Law.

“This marks the first instance of the Georgian President filing a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court. The lawsuit targets the Foreign Influence Transparency Law, arguing its unconstitutionality under Article 78 of the Georgian Constitution. The President seeks the suspension and ultimate repeal of this law as several provisions within the law infringe upon fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution,” stated Giorgi Mskhiladze.
