President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili believes that the commission working on the Georgian-Azerbaijani state border issue should be allowed to work, – President’s spokesperson Khatia Moistsrapishvili said in response to a question concerning Davit Gareji, a rock-hewn Georgian Orthodox monastery complex located in the Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia.

According to the President’s Spokesperson, it was decided during the official visit of the President of Georgia to Azerbaijan that boundaries should be set between the two friendly countries – Georgia and Azerbaijan.

“This decision was taken jointly by the Presidents of Georgia and Azerbaijan. Consequently, the Commission resumed working on the establishment of borders. We all agree that Georgia needs to set boundaries for development.

Consequently, the President of Georgia believes that the commission working on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border issue should be allowed to work. Of course, we have no illusion that this will happen today or tomorrow, but the Commission should have the opportunity to work in a peaceful and effective environment in order to reach the results we all want to achieve – that is the establishment of borders,” Khatia Moistsrapishvili said.
