President attends solemn activity on anniversary of Western, Eastern Commands establishment
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili attended a solemn activity on the anniversary of Western and Eastern Commands of the Georgian Armed Forces’ establishment at the 2nd infantry brigade in Senaki.
Vice Prime Minister, Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani and Chief of Defence Forces Giorgi Matiashvili hosted the President.
Kavelashvili and high-ranking defence officials laid a wreath at the memorial of heroes who died in the fight for Georgia’s territorial integrity, addressed soldiers and wished them success in strengthening defence capabilities.
The soldiers received medals and other gifts, while the President made an inscription in the Guest Book and inspected the 2nd infantry brigade infrastructure.
Western and Eastern Commands of the Georgian Armed Forces were established on April 1 at the order of the Georgian Defence Ministry.
