Petro Poroshenko: Russia acts according to 'South Ossetia' and 'Transnistria' scenario in Donbas

Russia acts according to so-called South Ossetia and Transnistria scenario in Donbas, – President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko considers the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to simplify the procedure of issuing Russian citizenship to the residents of certain areas of Luhansk and Donetsk regions to be an attempt to legitimize Russia’s military presence there.

“The illegal issuance of passports of the Russian Federation under the so-called South Ossetia and Transnistria scenarios is an attempt to justify and legitimize Russia’s military presence in the occupied part of the Ukrainian Donbas. I call on international partners to prevent the worst scenario, to severely condemn the destructive and criminal actions of the Russian authorities and to strengthen the regime of international sanctions”, Poroshenko said in a video message.
