Police seize major narcotics stash across Tbilisi and regions, arresting 11, including foreign nationals

Officers from the Patrol Police, Central Criminal Police, and the Tbilisi, Imereti, and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regional police departments under the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have arrested 11 individuals in a series of coordinated law enforcement operations. The suspects face charges including the illegal acquisition, possession, and facilitation of the supply of narcotics on an exceptionally large scale, as well as the illicit cultivation of cannabis plants, according to an official statement issued by the Ministry.

The ministry confirmed that those detained include both Georgian citizens and foreign nationals.

“Operational measures and investigative actions conducted across the criminal cases established that several of the accused placed narcotics in pre-arranged drop locations, subsequently transmitting precise geographic coordinates and photographs to interested buyers.

Following searches of the suspects’ persons, temporary residences, and designated drop sites, police seized substantial quantities of various illicit drugs packaged for distribution as material evidence. The seized substances include cocaine, heroin, methadone, Alpha-PVP, cannabis, and cultivated cannabis plants.

Law enforcement officers also confiscated packaging materials used for portioning narcotics, alongside cash believed to be proceeds derived from illicit drug sales.

The investigation is proceeding under Articles 260, 260-quater, and 265-prima of the Criminal Code of Georgia, offences carrying potential penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment,” the statement issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs specified.
