Police seize large quantity of narcotics and detain suspect in Tbilisi

Officers from Georgia’s Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have apprehended a person, identified as Z.K., born in 1999, on charges of illegal possession and storage of a substantial amount of narcotics, as well as assaulting a police officer, the MIA reports.

According to the authorities, law enforcement officers stopped the suspect in Tbilisi based on intelligence received. Upon noticing the police, Z.K. attempted to flee the scene, during which he deliberately crashed his vehicle into a police car.

“Law enforcement officers detained the suspect at the scene, and during a search of his vehicle, a significant quantity of the narcotic substance Alpha PVP was recovered.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260 and 353 of the Criminal Code, which carry penalties of up to 20 years behind bars or life imprisonment,” the MIA statement concluded.
