Police seize large quantity of drugs in Tbilisi valued at approximately GEL 3 million on black market

Officers from the Tbilisi Police Department have confiscated 35 kilograms of marijuana, divided into 146 packages, with an estimated street value of around GEL 3 million.

A citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, identified as I.I., born in 1993, has been detained on charges of facilitating the illegal purchase, storage, and distribution of substantial quantities of narcotics.

Law enforcement authorities also recovered a significant amount of marijuana and the necessary materials for packaging the drugs from a concealed storage space within the suspect’s residence.

Such crimes carry a penalty of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life behind bars.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260 and 260-4 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
