Police seize large quantity of drugs in Tbilisi; foreign national is detained

Officers from the Didube-Chughureti Division of the Tbilisi Police Department, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA), have detained an Iranian national, identified as A.B., born in 2002, on charges of purchasing, storing, and facilitating the illegal sale of drugs.

“Following operational intelligence, law enforcement officials recovered 183 packages of illegal substances as evidence during a search of the suspect’s temporary residence. Additionally, the police confiscated materials used for packaging the drugs,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated.

The investigation remains ongoing under Articles 260 and 260-4 of the Criminal Code, which carry penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment.
