Police seize large quantity of drugs and psychotropic substances at Kutaisi Airport; three people detained
Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance have detained three individuals on charges of illegal purchase, storage, and smuggling into Georgia of a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the suspects are identified as N. Ch., born in 1983, as well as foreign nationals D. H., born in 1983, and A. S., born in 1985.
According to the authorities, law enforcement officers seized a substantial cache of pills containing narcotic and psychotropic substances during a search of the suspects’ hand luggage at Kutaisi International Airport.
The crimes carry penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life behind bars. The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260, 261, 262, and 263 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
