Police seize commercial quantities of illicit narcotics in Tbilisi major drug bust

Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have arrested two individuals in Tbilisi in connection with the unlawful acquisition, storage, attempted purchase, and facilitation of the supply of particularly large quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs released official details regarding the operation.

“Following investigative operations, including searches of the suspects’ personal belongings and residential properties, law enforcement officers seized particularly large quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances as physical evidence, including Methadone, Mephedrone, MDMA, Clephedrone, and Ketamine.

Police also seized specialised packaging materials used for drug distribution.

An investigation is underway under Articles 260, 19-260, 260-quater, and 261 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs statement reads.
