Police detain one person for a homophobic attack in Tbilisi

The police detain one person for a homophobic attack in Tbilisi. Georgian Interior Ministry told GPB that the offender was detained under Articles 150, 151, 284 of the Criminal Code of Georgia that stipulate coercion, threats and unauthorized access to the computer system.

Earlier, the Tbilisi Pride organization reported that a neighbour attacked a lesbian couple in the presence of a minor child on homophobic grounds in the yard of their apartment building in Tbilisi on April 20.

Tbilisi Pride organization called on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to investigate the case in a timely and effective manner and ensure the physical safety of victims.

Tbilisi Pride also calls on the Human Rights Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to effectively monitor the investigation and ensure homophobic hate crimes identification.
