Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), in coordination with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, have apprehended four foreign nationals on suspicion of involvement in drug-related offences. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued an official statement regarding the operation.

According to the MIA, the individuals, identified as M.M., born in 2003, A.B., born in 1998, H.D., born in 1981, and B.F., born in 1993, are accused of illegal possession, storage, and attempted smuggling of a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances into Georgia.

“During a search of the suspects’ hand luggage at Tbilisi International Airport, law enforcement officers uncovered a significant amount of illicit substances, including up to 150 grams of cocaine, 497 capsules containing psychotropic substances, loose material containing morphine and codeine, as well as 1 litre of liquid ketamine and an additional 200 grams of ketamine in solid form,” the Ministry reported.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, working alongside relevant agencies, are actively conducting comprehensive measures to combat the illegal import and distribution of drugs. As part of these efforts, law enforcement authorities have recently confiscated several hundred kilograms of narcotics, which individuals involved in drug trafficking attempted to smuggle into the country through various clandestine methods.

“The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260, 261, 262, and 263 of the Criminal Code, which envisage penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment,” the Ministry stated.
