Police detain foreign national wanted by Interpol red notice in Batumi

Officers from the Batumi City Division of the Adjara Police Department, part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA), have detained a person, identified as S.I., a citizen of the Republic of Türkiye, born in 1987, who is wanted under an Interpol Red Notice.

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a statement confirming the arrest.

According to the authorities, S.I. was sought by Interpol on charges of drug trafficking, weapons offences, and property damage.

“Law enforcement officers detained S.I. in Batumi following investigative operations. Currently, extradition proceedings are underway in accordance with the law,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated.
