PM: Transparency Law adoption provides strong guarantees for peace and stability, being essential for Georgia's integration into EU
Today is the most important day in terms of strengthening the independence and sovereignty of our country, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized during a briefing at the government administration.
He highlighted that “the adoption of the “On Transparency of Foreign Influence” law provides strong guarantees for long-term peace and stability in Georgia, addressing polarization, which is essential for Georgia’s integration into the European Union”.
Kobakhidze assured that the government remains committed to protecting Georgia’s national interests.
“Georgia is a free, independent, sovereign, and dignified state. In the future, we will act with the highest responsibility towards our state and people and will do everything to protect the national interests of Georgia. Joining the European Union is possible and valuable only with dignity and sovereignty, which the majority of Georgian citizens have understood very well,” he stated.
The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to the Georgian people for their support, which he credited with enabling the country to avoid two attempted revolutions in recent years, maintain peace, and achieve candidate status for EU membership.
“I am confident that with continued public backing, Georgia will achieve significant success and become a full member of the European Union by 2030” he added.
Georgian Parliament adopted the draft bill On Transparency of Foreign Influence with the third reading at the plenary on Tuesday.
