PM: Over 80% of Georgian population backs NGOs' transparency; over 60% backs Transparency Law; Parliament executes Georgian society's will
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday said, “According to sociological studies, over 80 per cent of the Georgian population supports the transparency of non-governmental organizations, and over 60 per cent supports the law.”
“Therefore, the Parliament of Georgia will execute the will of the Georgian society tomorrow and the day after tomorrow,” the PM went on.
“As you know, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, the Parliament of Georgia plans to adopt the law on Transparency of Foreign Influence in the third reading.
A committee hearing of the draft law is planned tomorrow, and a plenary session the day after tomorrow.
I would like to point out that Georgia is a parliamentary democracy where decisions are made per the interests of the people, the majority, and not according to the demands of the political minority,” the PM asserted.
